- Claiming instant comfort: You say change never affects you, which removes the self-awareness the second sentence tests.
- Listing tasks: You describe a busy day without identifying the decision that required adaptation.
- Dropping the old priority silently: You switch direction but never explain how you managed the work that became less urgent.
- Equating speed with quality: You act quickly without checking the new risk, stakeholder, or deadline.
- Ending before the impact: You report the outcome but not how the change affected your judgment, energy, or future behavior.
How you pass
A strong answer shows a short decision cycle. State what changed, what information you verified, and how you ranked the competing priorities. Then explain the communication and control that allowed you to move quickly without creating a second problem.
For example, imagine a hypothetical internship where a scheduled dashboard review was interrupted by a data-quality issue in a senior report. You confirmed the affected fields, told the original reviewer which work would move, and created a manual check for the urgent report before tracing the source error. The report went out with verified figures, and the dashboard review resumed with a documented handoff.
- Define the original plan and the trigger for change.
- Explain the criteria used to reorder work.
- Name the person you informed and the expectation you reset.
- Show the quality or risk check you retained.
- Describe how the experience affected your later approach.
The convincing answer does not celebrate disruption. It proves that you can absorb new information and still preserve control.
