What this is
This UBS 2027 Video Interview question for Compliance tests controlled adaptation rather than simple speed. The interviewer wants to understand how you recognized that the old plan no longer worked, decided what should change first, and remained dependable while the situation was moving.
The real question
The final sentence means the answer must include reflection:
Tell me about a time you had to adjust quickly to a new situation or new priorities. How did this change affect you?
How you lose points
- Equating adaptability with working faster. Extra effort does not explain how priorities were reassessed.
- Skipping the original plan. The listener cannot see the adjustment unless the before-state is clear.
- Accepting every new demand. Adaptation requires deciding what to pause, protect, or renegotiate.
- Ignoring control risks. In a Compliance context, speed should not erase accuracy, documentation, or escalation.
- Leaving out personal impact. The prompt asks how the change affected your thinking or working habits.
How you pass
Use a clear before-and-after structure. State the original objective and plan. Identify the change and why it mattered. Explain how you ranked the new priorities, communicated the revised sequence, and checked that essential controls remained intact.
- Name the trigger. Show what new fact, deadline, or risk forced the adjustment.
- Explain the reprioritization rule. Clarify why one task moved ahead and another could wait.
- Preserve reliability. Describe the review, record, or checkpoint that prevented haste from creating a new problem.
- Reflect on the effect. State the practical habit or perspective you carried forward.
For example, a candidate might describe receiving a late regulatory clarification during a project. They could explain how they paused a lower-risk workstream, mapped the affected deliverables, confirmed the interpretation with the appropriate stakeholder, and added a short review checkpoint before resuming. The strongest closing would identify how the experience improved their ability to separate urgency from risk.
