What this is
This Bank of America 2027 Video Interview question tests whether you can make judgment visible. The interviewer needs more than a difficult situation and a successful ending. Your answer should show what made the choice genuinely hard, which alternatives were available, and how you selected a defensible path.
The real question
Use the wording to preserve the full decision sequence:
Think about a recent situation which required you to make a difficult decision? Describe the situation, the options you had, and your decision.
How you lose points
- Choosing an obvious dilemma. If one option is clearly correct, the story provides no evidence of judgment.
- Hiding the alternatives. A decision cannot be evaluated when the rejected paths remain vague.
- Listing pros and cons without priorities. Tradeoffs need a criterion that explains which consequence mattered most.
- Rewriting the past as certainty. A credible account acknowledges what was unknown at the time.
- Ending at the choice. The interviewer still needs the action, result, and lesson that followed.
How you pass
Frame the story around a decision rule. Briefly define the situation and the constraint that created tension. Name two realistic options, compare them against the same two or three criteria, and state why your chosen option best protected the highest priority.
- Establish the stakes. Explain who or what would be affected by delay, error, cost, or reputational risk.
- Make both options credible. Show why a reasonable person could support either path.
- Name the deciding criterion. Identify the factor that outweighed the others and why.
- Own the outcome. Describe what you did after deciding and what evidence showed whether the choice worked.
For example, a project lead might need to choose between releasing on time with a known limitation or delaying to complete a critical test. A strong answer would compare client impact, failure risk, and recovery cost, explain why one factor dominated, then show how the candidate communicated the decision and monitored the result.
