The UBS 2027 Video Interview for Global Markets tests whether you can absorb change without becoming reactive. Fast adjustment matters, but the assessor also wants to see how you protected the most important outcome.
The real question
The second sentence makes your management process the focus:
Tell us about a time when you had to adjust quickly to a new situation or new priorities. How did you manage this challenge?
How you lose points
- Describing a busy week. More work is not the same as a genuine change in priorities.
- Making speed the whole answer. Rushing without choosing what matters shows activity, not judgment.
- Skipping stakeholder communication. A changed plan affects other people, deadlines, and dependencies.
- Listing tasks without a decision rule. The interviewer needs to know why one action moved ahead of another.
- Ending with survival. Finishing exhausted does not prove that the new plan worked.
How you pass
Start with the original objective and the event that made it obsolete. State the trade-off you faced. Then explain the rule you used to reset priorities, the people you informed, and the checkpoint that kept the revised plan on track.
A credible hypothetical example is a market research project where a central bank announcement changes the assumptions hours before a presentation. You would identify which slides are now invalid, protect the analysis that still holds, assign the data refresh, and tell the presenter exactly what has changed. You would also agree on a final review time so speed does not create a new accuracy problem.
- Name the new information and its consequence.
- Separate essential work from work that can wait.
- Communicate the revised owners and deadline.
- Use a checkpoint to test progress.
- Close with the result and one lesson for future changes.
Adaptability is controlled reprioritisation. The strongest answer shows that you moved quickly because you understood the objective, not because you abandoned the plan.
