UBS Video Interview Answer: Areas and Roles That Fit

The UBS 2027 Video Interview for Tomorrows Talent & Spring Insight does not reward a catalogue of every area that sounds impressive. This question tests whether you can make a focused choice and explain the work behind your interest.

The real question

The assessment asks:

Please tell us what areas or roles interest you most at UBS, and why?

How you lose points

  • Naming too many areas. A long list makes your interests look untested.
  • Using prestige as the reason. Status does not explain what work you want to perform.
  • Reciting a generic company pitch. The prompt asks about your interests, not a summary of the firm.
  • Ignoring the role. A sector preference without tasks, decisions, or skills remains abstract.
  • Claiming perfect certainty. Early-career curiosity sounds credible when it still has a clear direction.

How you pass

Choose one primary area and, at most, one closely related alternative. Explain which recurring tasks or decisions attract you, then connect that interest to something you have already done. The evidence can come from study, a project, work, or an independent activity.

A hypothetical answer might say that a candidate prefers work that combines structured analysis with concise recommendations. The candidate then describes a project where incomplete information had to be organised into a decision, explains which part of that process was energising, and links that evidence to the chosen role. Specific work beats borrowed enthusiasm.
