JP Morgan Interview: Prepare for a CEO Meeting Fast

What this question is testing

This is a prioritisation test disguised as a research question. With only 30 minutes, the quality of your three choices matters more than the volume of material.

The real interview question

Imagine you get pulled into a meeting in 30 minutes with a CEO/CFO of a publicly traded Company. What 3 things would you look at beforehand?

Where answers lose credibility

  • Listing generic sources without linking them to the meeting
  • Spending all 30 minutes on company history
  • Ignoring the executive’s likely priorities
  • Providing three overlapping financial checks with no external context

A stronger answer framework

  • Review the latest financial performance and identify the two or three movements that demand explanation.
  • Check recent company announcements, strategic priorities and material market events.
  • Form a concise view of the executive’s likely agenda, including financing needs, risks or decisions where the bank can add value.
  • Prepare one informed question for each area so the research can support a real conversation.

The answer should sound selective. For each item, say what you would inspect, what signal you are looking for and how it would improve the meeting. That shows commercial judgment rather than a memorised reading list.
