Grant Thornton Video Interview Answer: The CARE Values

Grant Thornton Video Interview Answer: The CARE Values

A values question still needs evidence

Grant Thornton uses a 2027 Video Interview to test how candidates think about its CARE values. This question can remove people who sound polished but cannot show a consistent behaviour behind the value they select.

Candidates who have seen the real wording have an advantage because they can prepare one example with enough detail instead of trying to praise all four values at once.

The question as shown

Here is the complete question:

At Grant Thornton, we live our culture through our CARE values: collaboration - authenticity - responsibility - excellence. Which one of these 4 core values resonates most strongly with you and why? How do you live this value every day?

What makes the answer feel thin

  • Choosing the safest value. The interviewer can hear when collaboration was selected only because it sounds employable.
  • Reciting a definition. A dictionary explanation does not reveal how the candidate behaves.
  • Telling a team story with no personal action. The example needs a decision or contribution that belongs to the speaker.
  • Trying to cover all four values. Breadth weakens the commitment the question asks for.
  • Stopping after one event. The final part asks how the value appears in ordinary work every day.

Turn the value into observable behaviour

A strong response names one value immediately and explains what it means in the candidate's own working style. The explanation should be specific enough to observe, such as surfacing a problem early, inviting a dissenting view, or taking ownership when a handoff fails.

The example then shows a difficult moment, the candidate's action, and a result. The best result is not always a number. A faster decision, restored trust, or a mistake prevented can be equally credible when the chain of cause and effect is clear.

The closing sentence moves from the past example to a repeatable habit. It tells the interviewer how the same value appears in meetings, deadlines, feedback, or client work.
