"Why Bain?" 2027 Interview Answer Guide for Summer Internship Applicants

For the 2027 Bain Summer Internship, the "why us" answer needs evidence: name a recent development at Bain you find interesting, mention a conversation with someone at the firm, and link the Summer Internship 2027 structure to the skills you want to build in Hong Kong.

What the why bain really assesses

It assesses genuine motivation and research. Firms want candidates who chose them deliberately, not applicants spraying the same CV across the industry. Formats may vary by role and region, so treat the structure below as a framework, not a script.

How to answer it for Bain's 2027 Summer Internship

Business reason: one specific thing about the firm's work, deals, or strategy that interests you.

People reason: a conversation, event, or insight about the culture.

Personal fit: how the program connects to your skills and goals.

Example line: "I followed the firm's recent work in [sector], and speaking with analysts at the campus event confirmed the collaborative culture I'm looking for."

Common mistakes to avoid

• Giving generic answers that could apply to any firm.

• Naming no specifics — no people, no deals, no details.

• Sounding rehearsed rather than conversational.
