How to Prepare for the Barclays Summer Internship 2027 Online Assessment

October 9, 2026

The Barclays Summer Internship 2027 online assessment in Hong Kong is the first major filter in the application process. Understanding what each section measures — and practising under realistic conditions — is the most effective preparation strategy.

What the Online Assessment Typically Includes

While formats may vary by role and region, Barclays's online assessment is commonly reported by candidates to include a mix of cognitive, behavioural, and situational elements. Check the firm's official careers page for the current structure of the Summer Internship 2027 intake.

Preparation Strategy by Section

Cognitive / aptitude sections: Practise numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning under strict time limits. Speed matters as much as accuracy.
Situational judgement: There are rarely "right" answers — choose responses that reflect the firm's stated values (teamwork, integrity, client focus). Research Barclays's values first.
Behavioural / personality: Answer honestly but professionally. Inconsistent answers across similar questions can flag your profile.

The Week Before

Do 3-4 full timed mock sessions, not just isolated questions.
Practise at the same time of day you will take the real test.
Ensure a quiet environment — some assessments lock you out if you switch tabs.

Common Reasons Candidates Fail This Stage

Running out of time on cognitive sections because they never practised under pressure.
Overthinking situational questions instead of trusting their first professional instinct.
Technical issues from an unstable connection or an unsupported browser.

After the Assessment

Results timelines may vary by role and region. Use any waiting period to prepare for the Video Interview stage so you can move fast if you progress.
